The Narcotics Control Board (NACOB) has arrested a music producer, Samuel Safo Kantaka, for attempting to smuggle substances believe to be cocaine out of the country.
Safo kantaka, who was arrested Tuesday evening, is said to have expelled over 70 pellets of cocaine, Joy FM sources at the NACOB noted.
The Acting Executive Secretary of NACOB, Yaw Akrasi-Sarpong, confirmed the arrest to Evans Mensah who hosted the Super Morning Show on Thursday.
Safo Kantaka was arrested while completing his boarding formalities at the Kotoka International Airport en route to the United kingdom.
He noted that the suspect has been on their profile list.
“His name is Safo-Kantaka. Let me break that news. Tuesday night he was arrested [attempting] to go out of the country. We have profiled him, he was busted and he has swallowed pellets [of cocaine]. He is under investigation, period,” he established.
Safo Kantaga would be processed for court by the close of the day.
“I am sure he should be processed for court today. The procedure is that before you keep him beyond 48 hours you have to go and ask for his continues detention with the law enforcement agencies; because the law is very clear about narcotic cases, they don’t get bail. He was not arrested on the weekend so today (Thursday) definitely maximum [he should be in court].” Mr Akrasi-Sarpong explained.
