The Central Regional Minister, Madam Ama Benyiwa-Doe has donated items worth thousands of Ghana Cedis to six health institutions in the region to mark her birthday.
The items which included detergents, soap, plastic buckets, bags of rice, student-size mattresses, mats, bed sheets and pillow cases went to Winneba Hospital, Swedru Government Hospital, and Assin Fosu St. Francis Xavier Catholic Hospital.
The other beneficiary medical institutions were Breman Asikuma Catholic Hospital, Twifo Praso Government Hospital and Apam Catholic Hospital.
Making the presentation at Apam Catholic Hospital on behalf of the Regional Minister, Ms Sarah Sarkwah, Gomoa West Community Health Officer said Madam Benyiwa-Doe wanted to use the donation to express her appreciation for the good work the health facilities in the area were doing to promote the health of the people.
Ms Sarkwah assured the health workers that Government appreciates the trying conditions under which they work and would therefore strive to improve their working conditions.
Reverend Sister Magdalen Arthur Mensah, Matron of the hospital who received the items, expressed gratitude to theminister and said the donation had come as a surprise to the medical institution. She assured her that the items would be used to enhance health delivery at the hospital and wished the minister a happy birth day.
