Health Minister, Alex Segbefia, has announced that the ministry will intervene in agitations by workers at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, demanding dismissal of their Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Dr. Gilbert Buckle.
Members of the Senior Staff Association are accusing Dr. Buckle of failing to give them tools to work with, mismanaging the hospital’s resources and disrespecting staff.
Mr. Segbefia who visited the hospital Monday indicated that the ministry is working to deal with the situation.
He said the Ministry will not assign blame to anyone but “when issues are raised you address them.”
“I have met with the group on various issues but for this particular issue we are yet to meet and engage but I’ve been written to them and it’s important that we deal with it as an in-house issue,” he added.
He called on the media to allow the Ministry to deal with the issue and find an amicable solution to it.
Addressing a news conference Monday, Board Chairman Anthony Mawuli Salla, said the situation will not affect the hospital’s ability to deliver services to its client.
He assured that nurses and doctors at the hospital are capable and ready to handle any case that wll come to the hospital.
