Three children have been burnt to death in a Saturday dawn fire that swept through the kiosk in which they were staying at Takoradi, the Western Regional capital.
Joy News’ Correspondent, Nana Adjao Entsua, reported Sunday that the mother of the children - two girls and a boy - left them in the kiosk to go buy bread, but on her return she found the wooden structure in flames.
The bodies of the children have been deposited at the mortuary, Nana Adjoa reports.
Police have opened a formal probe into the incident, however, neighbours suspect the father of the children of arson.
Neighbours of the victims' mother say the father of the children has once threatened to set the kiosk on fire.
Police, however, say it is too early to point a finger at the father, but they have launched an investigation into the allegations.
Takoradi Metropolitan Police Commander, Supt Peter Ofori Donkor, said the father of the kids and his two wives were in tears after the fire so he could not ask them any questions.
An eye-witness said a candle lighted by one of the women caused the inferno.
