The Keta Municipal Assembly is to face out all 550 pan latrines in the area and replace them with KVIPs or water closet toilets under a four-year Health and Sanitation Scheme. A cesspool emptier and a permanent solid and liquid waste disposal site are to be acquired under the scheme as part of a four-year medium term development plan expected to be inaugurated in September this year. Mr Sylvester Tornyeava, Keta Municipal Chief Executive, announced this at an ordinary meeting of the Assembly at Keta. He said the Anloga Health Centre would be upgraded to a Polyclinic and the Tsime Clinic to a Health Centre. He added that the road network from Tsiame-Dorveme-Sasiame-Afife, Abor-Anyako-Seva and Dzelukope through Anloga to Dzita-Fuveme roads would be reshaped to improve access to health care and other facilities for communities along those routes. Mr Tornyeava said the Assembly would facilitate the training of more health personnel to solve personnel problems facing the Municipal Hospital. The MCE noted that 90 percent of communities in the municipal area are to be supplied with potable water by 2013 and that preparation for extension of water to Atsiavi and neighbouring areas from the Ghana Water Supply Station at Sogakope has started.
