Members of the Abudu Royal family have announced they will stage a demonstration on Tuesday to demand the release of three of their kinsmen currently in police custody.
The three, along with at least six others were arrested in connection with the murder of the overlord of Dagbon, Ya-Na Yakubu Andani in April but are yet to be formally charged.
The family has described their continued incarceration as a violation of their human rights.
Family secretary Majeed Bawa tells Joy News the family members would march through some principal streets of Accra to present a petition to the Attorney-General.
The prosecution insists the accused persons will interfere with evidence if they are released, a position upheld by the circuit court. Lead counsel for the defence, Atta Akyea, has described their incarceration as a travesty of justice.
