Police in the Western Region are on the hunt for four armed robbers who attacked and robbed some travelers of cash and items worth thousands of cedis on Saturday night.

The incident occurred at Bonsu Nkwanta between 7:00 and 8:00pm.

One driver was shot and injured while over 60 passengers were robbed of their belongings including mobile phones, and other personal belonging.

A victim who recounted their ordeal to Joy News said “we were from Bonsu to Kumasi and along the way, we heard a loud noise so we stopped thinking that some items had dropped from our vehicle.

“As soon as we stopped, one of the robbers fired a gun into the driver’s windscreen, hitting him and some of the passengers.  They then entered the vehicle and robbed us of our belongings.”

Another said “all I saw was a bullet hitting the driver, myself and two other. They then asked as to lie on the road and took away all our monies. I’m a trader. They took about 1,700 cedis from me.”

Juaboso Station Officer, Chief Inspector Gabriel Nanewotor who confirmed the incident to Joy News said they are yet to make any arrests but will not relent in bringing these robbers to justice.

He said the victims are currently are at the SDA Hospital for treatment.
