The Abudu Royal Family in Dagbon has staged a demonstration here in Accra, demanding the release of some of their members who are being held in custody.
They were arrested in a recent swoop as part of investigations into the murder of the overlord of Dagbon, Ya Na Yakubu Andani.
The demonstrators say they do not understand why the men are still being kept in custody with no charges preferred against them.
Spokesperson of the Abudus, Dr. Ziblim Iddi who presented their petition to the Attorney General’s Office expressed regret over what he said is the injustice meted out to their people.
He called for the release of the men.
Deputy Attorney General, Ebow Barton-Oduro who received the petition asked the Abudus to exercise restraint as investigations are conducted into the murder of the Ya Na.
He said government will listen to the grievances of the family and will act according to the dictates of the law.
