TWIGGY'S FROCK EXCHANGE from Thursday June 24 at 21:20 CAT is a new 3 part series on DStv which taps into the latest trend for clothes swapping parties. So many of us have wardrobes full of decent clothes that we never wear so what better way than to get rid of the old stuff and replace it with new, all for free?
In the age of disposable style and the credit crunch there is a growing desire to spend less and ease our environmental consciences whilst still having fun with fashion.
From Primark to Prada, vintage to Versace, each week Twiggy and her team of experts will host a party inviting celebrities and up to a hundred women to swap clothes and accessories with each other. Partygoers will get fashion advice to help them make the perfect swap as well as the best styling, hair and make-up to ensure they leave looking and feeling a million dollars.
Part event, part factual, TWIGGY'S FROCK EXCHANGE is every girl’s dream show packed full of beautiful clothes, amazing transformations, human interest stories, gorgeous information and a practical guide to styling and customising clothes across all ages and bodyshapes.
Twiggy Lawson at 16 became the first prominent teenage model. She was known for her androgynous looks, large eyes, long eyelashes, and thin build. In 1966, she was named the “The Face of 1966” by the Daily Express and voted British Woman of the Year. By 1967, Twiggy had modelled in France, Japan, and the U.S., and landed on the covers of Vogue and The Tattler. Her fame had spread worldwide.
Staying with fashion, this June also sees the return of retail guru Mary Portas with the second season of MARY, QUEEN OF SHOPS. Premiering from Tuesday June 1 (21:20 CAT) on DStv, the series continues to help independent fashion shop owners win their fight against the all-consuming high street Goliaths.
Also in the show Mary shares the tricks and tips she's learned from her years at the leading edge of fashion retailing, giving DStv viewers the ultimate insider's guide as to how to get the most out of shops and shopping.
Each week Mary will troubleshoot her way around the UK on a mission to help turn around struggling fashion boutiques - saving the high street, one shop at a time. Mary's mission is about much more than just fixing the balance sheet, her no-nonsense approach sees her take radical steps to turn the business around and put the glamour and sex appeal back into shopping.
With front row seats at London Fashion Week and tough sessions with the key people at some of London’s leading fashion magazines, Mary will use all the tricks of the trade to whip these shops into fashionable shape.
Tune in for MARY, QUEEN OF SHOPS from Tuesday June 1 (21:20 CAT) and TWIGGY'S FROCK EXCHANGE from Thursday June 24 (21:20 CAT) on BBC Lifestyle, channel 180, on DStv.
