Fire has engulfed a house at Kenten, a suburb of Techiman in the Brong Ahafo region killing two children in the process.
The victims, said to be three-year-old twins were trapped in the house.
“I think they were trying to find their way out of the room but got choked by the smoke and died,” an eyewitness told Joy News.
According to reports, the fire started at about 9am, Wednesday January 27th when the children were playing inside the room. They got trapped after the fire started.

Their 26-year-old mother and their grandmother were outside the room when the fire started.
“All we saw was smoke coming out of the roof of the room…their mother started shouting that her children were in the room,” Seidu, the eyewitness said.

He says they quickly rushed to rescue them but they had challenges opening the door.

“The door that led to the particular room the kids were trapped in was tightly locked and when we finally broke into it, the room was covered with thick smoke,” Seidu added.
They finally broke into the room only to find the two burnt bodies of the twins under a table behind the door.

The fire service personnel arrived later to quench the fire.
The cause of the fire is still unknown but eyewitnesses believe it could have been caused by some faulty electric wires in the house.

The Police have since picked the bodies of the deceased twins and deposited them at the Techiman Holy family hospital.

The Fire Service in the area has launched investigation into the cause of the fire.
