Former President John Agyekum Kufuor says the time spent by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) on solving its internal problems will not affect its ability to win the 2016 election.
In an exclusive interview with Joy News’ Beatrice Adu, the former head of state said the NPP is ready for this year’s polls.
“Naturally, I would wish that my party was holding together firmly but I tell you they say a week may be a long time in politics…I am telling you NPP will come together firmly," he indicated.

Divisions within some leaders of the NPP have been a major setback for the party especially last year.
The divisions have resulted in clashes and led to the death of some party activists. Some Ghanaians have said that the setbacks will affact the party's performance in the general elections.
But Kufuor who is a member of the NPP's Council of Elders believes that despite the setbacks, the party will excel in the upcoming elections.
He urged Ghanaians to vote out what he describes as “the not-so-effective NDC government and favour the NPP.”
“When you try party A for some time and it is not delivering to your expectation, wisdom will tell you please change your hands. Give the other side a chance,” Kufuor indicated.
He said when the NPP is voted into power, problems facing Ghana’s health, energy and other sectors will be solved to improve the lives of Ghanaians.
