Joy News is reliably informed that Caption (rtd) Edmund Koda has been re-arrested by officials of the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI).
The arrest which was executed by some officials of the BNI occurred at the early hours of Friday, March 25.
Deputy Communications Minister, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, confirmed the news of the re-arrest on Joy FM/MultiTv's news analysis programme, NEWSFILE adding the Captain was never tried by the court.
Captain Koda who is the head of security for the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Akufo-Addo, is alleged to have invited the three South African ex-cops who are currently in the BNI custody.
The men, Major Ahmed Shaik Hazis (Rtd.) 54, WO/Denver Dwayhe Naidu (Rtd.) 39, and Captain Mlungiseleli Jokani (Rtd.) 45 were picked up at the El Capitano Hotel at Agona Duakwa Sunday, March 20 by BNI officials in the Agona East of the Central region.
They were charged with engaging in activities which threaten the security and safety of the country.
Later it was revealed by the leadership of the NPP that the three men were invited by Captain Koda which resulted in his first arrest for questioning.
Security operatives were reported to have gone together with him [Captain Koda] to his Weija residence earlier in the week to conduct some searching.
The operatives believed to be mostly from the office of the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) and police personnel searched the house around 4pm.
BNI officials later released him Thursday, March 24 with the surety that he will make himself available to aid the agency finish its investigation of the matter.
The state dropped the charges leveled against him but JOYNEWS sources have disclosed he has been re-arrested by the BNI for another round of questioning.
It is not clear yet why he has been re-arrested.
