Over 300 pints of blood were collected at a special Easter edition of Luv FM Blood Donation exercise on Saturday.

Just as Jesus Christ shed his blood on the cross many years ago  to save mankind, so did many give pints of blood on Easter  to save others in need of blood.

The Easter edition of the quarterly exercise saw many residents trooping to the premises of Luv FM effortlessly as they queue to wait for their turns.

As at 7 am, almost seventy people had lined up to donate blood.

Head of Blood Donor Transfusion Medicine at Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital Dr. Shelly Owusu Ofori was excited at the high attendance the exercise recorded.

Dr. Owusu Ofori explained: “this shows how ready people are to save lives”.

According to her, 70 to 75 per cent of the blood donated comes from people who have no idea of who their prospective recipients are.

That according to her is an encouraging.

Dr. Owusu appealed to the general public to continue to donate blood voluntarily to save more lives.
