One of the most exciting player in the Ghana Premier League is easily Latif Blessing from Liberty Professionals.
The attacker, only just a teenager, is already the league's joint-top scorer with five goals. But despite his obviously ridiculous talent, Latif's coach has identified a key area for improvement, especially on the back on the player's performance as Liberty lost 3-1 away against Kotoko at the weekend.
“He overdid things. As skillful as he is, he has to contribute to team play so we all can benefit from his play,” coach George Lamptey said after the loss.
Kotoko did not find Blessing easy to deal with, especially after his first minute strike powered the Dansoman side into an early shock lead.
Lamptey notes: “Because of his skill, he’s always a target. I tell him all the time to watch Messi. Messi is very skillful but he doesn’t keep the ball all to himself. He plays neat one-two passes. Blessing needs to play like that. He can do his skills when he’s one-on-one in the attacking third,” Lamptey added.
Before the Kotoko game, Liberty were expected to build on a fantastic 5-1 thrashing of AshGold, a game in which Blessing scored a brace. But in the end it was the Reds who finished with just their second win of the season, leaving the Dansoman side seventh on the log.
