The 2016 Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party has commended President John Dramani Mahama for honouring the late JB Danquah-Adu with a state burial.
I would like to use this medium to thank President John Dramani Mahama for honouring our brother this way. We thank him so much because JB [as he was affectionately called] deserved it, Nana Addo-Dankwa Akufo-Addo said in the local Akan dialect.
He made this statement while addressing mourners at the funeral of the late Joseph Boakye Danquah-Adu, Saturday, April 16, 2016.
The former Member of Parliament for Abuakwa North constituency was tragically murdered at his residence at Shiashie on February 9, 2016.
One person arrested in connection with his murder, Daniel Asiedu, is standing trial for murder.
Three-day final funeral rites for the late MP began on Friday, April 15 as his body was laid in state at the Forecourt of the State House.
His family, friends, colleague legislators, and almost all the political bigwigs in the country gathered at the venue to bid him farewell.
The body was transferred to Akyem Old Tafo in the Eastern Region where he hails from.
At Old-Tafo onSaturday, Nana Akufo-Addo speaking in Akan described the slain MP as a very hardworking, kind hearted and friendly man.
He said he has personally lost a treasure as he planned to include him in his government if he wins this year's elections
He sent out his condolences to the wife, children, siblings and other family members of the late legislator.
One of the giants in NPP, Alan Kyeremateng said the tributes that were read at the funeral of the late J.B Danquah-Adu showed that the country has lost a great person.
Former Defence Minister, Dr Kwame Addo Kufuor called on all politicians and Ghanaians generally to emulate the late MP’s values.
