Marie Stopes International Ghana in collaboration with state and civil society partners is organizing the first No Yawa National Youth Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) Summit.
The summit is envisaged to be an annual national SRHR platform for young people to discuss, engage stakeholders and also share ideas on how Youth SRHR can be effectively implemented to help achieve desired health outcomes.
The summit would particularly seek to explore the issue of comprehensive sexuality education (CSE), discussing the proposition that CSE should be introduced into the school curriculum.
The theme for the summit is “Activating Youth SRHR Voices for Change” and it’s scheduled for June 8-9, 2016 at the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Centre, Teshie- Accra.
There is a call for contributions from interested individuals and organisations for poster and/or oral presentations.
The presentations are expected to cover planned or executed research or project initiative(s) carried out by the applicant based on the following topics:
1. Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE)
2. Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV)
3. Youth Empowerment 101
4. Connecting the dots
5. Understanding youth SRHR policies
6. Are public and private health facilities friendly to young people?
7. Ears to the ground; when the media speaks about SRHR
8. Talking about sex in the digital age! Has anything changed?
Poster Presentations
The poster can cover one of the two broad themes listed below and may explore a variety of SRHR issues, including those listed for the panel sessions:
Theme 1: Uncovering Youth SRHR Knowledge and Experiences
Theme 2: Galvanising Youth Action for Change in Public Understanding, Policy and Services in SRHR
Participation
About 300 participants are expected at the summit. Participation in the summit is free. The summit will provide meals, summit brochures, T-Shirts and ID Tags for all participants. Successful applicants outside Accra will be provided with accommodation, transport allowance and meals for the duration of the summit.

All applicants who wish to participate in the summit should complete the Part 1 of the online form. Young applicants (15-24yrs) who wish to make oral or poster presentations at the summit must complete the Part 2 of the online form. Deadline for online application is 15th May 2016.
