A severe storm that hit Mpasaso Number One in the Ahafo-Ano South district resulting in the collapse of the market has rendered many traders jobless.
Alexander Yeboah, assemblyman for the area, said the storm which lasted about three hours also affected three houses which had their roofs ripped off.
He said the situation needed urgent attention from the District Assembly, National Disaster and Management Organisation (NADMO) and philanthropists since the community needed building materials to rehabilitate the market.
Mr. Twumasi Ampofo, also an assemblyman, announced that the community, through a fund-raising harvest has started the construction of a toilet facility and the renovation of a six-classroom block in the town.
He commended the government for awarding the 49-kilometre Wioso-Mpasaso-Wansamire road on contract and called on the contractor to ensure the completion of the road on schedule.
