Two successive armed robberies in three days have sent waves of anxiety across the Ashanti regional capital, Kumasi.
A police officer was shot in a car at Dichemmuoso after armed robbers raided the hotel last Friday.
Over the weekend, another resident was chased to his house by armed robbers and killed at Ahenema Kokoben, a Kumasi suburb.
In the third instance at Pekyi No. 1 vicinity, a woman pulled up in front of her home at night and had two armed men pointing guns at her. They took away her phones and handbags.
A daughter traumatized by the sight, rushed back inside the house when she saw guns pointed at her mother. The robbers shot through the door after barking orders that the doors should be opened.
According to Luv FM's Erastus Asare Donkor, four bullet holes can be seen on the door.
A mother gripped by fear begged her relatives to let in the robbers who threaten to kill her. She was subsequently shot in the leg.
Public Relations Officer of the Ashanti regional police, ASP Mohammed Yusif Tanko, told Joy News Monday, the police are meeting with the community to discuss security concerns.
He explained that armed robbers target areas where police response to crime is hampered by poor roads and addressing systems.
