The Office of former President Jerry John Rawlings has confirmed that following consultations with the African Union Commission, he has been appointed AU High Representative for Somalia. A statement by former President Rawlings' office says he sees the role as a huge challenge coming at a difficult period in Somalia’s history. He however believes with the support of the international community and all stakeholders involved in the political process in Somalia, significant progress can be made on the crises.Read official communiqué from the AU
