Nana Okokodrufo Ogyeabo Ababio II, Paramount Chief of Ajumako Traditional Area, has called on the divisional chiefs to strive to initiate development projects to improve the living conditions of their people.
He said they must endeavour to embark on development projects before asking the Central Government and the District Assembly to come to their aid.
The Omanhen made the call when Nana Esuman Okoanten V, the newly installed Nefahene of Ajumako Assaasan, swore the oath of allegiance at Ajumako in the Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam District of the Central Region.
Nana Esuman Okoanten, known in private life as Mr. Isaac Otabil, Chairman of the Agona Swedru Texaco branch of the Ghana Private Road Transport Union, succeeded his late uncle, Nana Essuman Okoanten IV, who died some years ago.
Nana Ababio said that chiefs should seek the welfare of their people first before thinking about themselves, adding that Ajumako, the District Capital, should have the desired development which should not be done by the central government alone.
He called on the “chiefs and the people of Ajumako to eschew the pull him down attitude and other negative tendencies which could affect the general development of the area”.
Nana Okoanten on his part pledged to abide by the rules and regulations of the Traditional Area and promised to try as much as possible to bring development to Assaasan and Ajumako.
He called for unity among the people to enhance the development of the area.
