Otiko Afisah Djaba, the National Women Organizer of the New Patriotic Party, has presented relief items worth 9,000 Ghana cedis to the Agona Swedru flood victims.
The items came from the women’s wing of the party and included ladies shoes, used clothing, ladies bags and pieces of wax prints.
Ms Djaba appealed to the government to assist the Agona West Assembly to resettle the victims who still occupy the Swedru Town Hall, Presbyterian Primary School block and Ahmadiyya Primary School.
She appealed to the women in the area to send their daughters to school and not to engage them in petty trading and early marriage.
Nana Kobina Botwe II, chief of Agona Swedru who received the items on behalf of the victims, thanked the NPP National Women Organizer for the donation and urged corporate bodies to assist the victims.
He said the flood victims need financial assistance to recapitalize their businesses because most of them had lost their capitals and businesses.
Nana Kobina Botwe said the Swedruman Council of Chiefs had asked the Swedru Divisional Police Command to arrest parents who engage their children in ice water selling to the disadvantage of their education.
