The death toll of a tragedy which occurred on the Volta River on Sunday rose to 8 on Monday. A boat carrying over 60 passengers capsized after it hit a tree stump in the middle of a journey from Nantwkope to Yeji on Sunday.

A search team retrieved the bodies of six children on the same day, few hours after the incident. The search continued and the death toll continued to increase.

Also, in a very historic ceremony, President John Dramani Mahama commissioned the revamped Komenda Sugar Factory in the Central region.

On Tuesday there was chaos in Krofrom in the Ashanti Region following the death of a 22-year-old boy. Residents accused the police of beating the victim to death but an autopsy report said the victim died naturally.

Also, the death toll of the Yeji accident reached 13 and the Ghana Maritime Authority denied wrong doing after accusations by the Member of Parliament for Pru in the Brong Ahafo Region.

Also, JUSAG called off their two-week old strike after negotiations with officials of the Ministry of Employment. 

On Thursday, an Accra High Court threw out Sammy Crabbe's suit against the NPP. He vowed to seek an appeal.

Also, Mr Alfred Agbesi Woyome prevented policemen and Lands Commission Officials from entering his property to evaluate it for auctioning.

Also, the Central Regional Minister, Kweku Ricketts Hagan gave a production cycle for the new Komenda Sugar factory. He said the Komenda Sugar Factory would work for some time and close down after every six months for maintenance.

On Friday, a memorial service was held in remembrance of the victims of the flood and fire disaster which occurred on June 3, 2015, at Kwame Nkrumah Circle.

The Ga Traditional Council warned that the gods were angry with residents of Accra for disregarding the ban on drumming and dancing. The president of the council said disaster could happen again if care is not taken.
