The Reverend Moses Opoku Agyemang, Minister in-charge of the Yennyawoso District of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, has appealed to church leaders to preach against practices that hinder the progress of Christendom and not compromise biblical tenets in the quest to increase their membership.
He called on them to resolve to call undisciplined members to order as stipulated in the Bible, stressing that this would help curb the propagation of unsound alien doctrines and practices now creeping into the church.
Rev Agyemang was speaking at the induction of 10 presbyters of the Anwomaso branch of the Presbyterian Church at a ceremony in Kumasi on Sunday under the theme "The Lord Baptises with the Holy Spirit".
The presbyters were commissioned for a four-year term of office and are expected to assist in the day-to-day administration of the church.
Rev Agyemang appealed to churches to complement government's efforts in the fight against corruption and indiscipline since these canker thwarted moves to achieve the nation's development goals.
He said as the nation was preparing to celebrate her 50th independence anniversary, it was imperative that churches committed resources to fasting and prayers for God to strengthen "Our leaders to shun arrogance and exhibit good leadership qualities for the general well being of the people".
