The newly appointed Eastern Regional Police Commander has pledged to work to reduce the crime rate in the capital, Koforidua.
Superintendent Tefutor Lovelace Kaletsi, who assumed office three weeks ago, says police patrols in the town will also be intensified.
The new police commander takes over from Supt. Henry Amankwatia.
Supt. Kaletsi said since Koforidua was a business town, increased criminal activity was to be expected but maintained he will fight the canker vigorously.
Superintendent Kaletsi lamented the huge constraints facing the regional police command and said if the command gets even one patrol vehicle, “it will boost the morale of the policemen there.”
Supt. Kaletsi said he is currently putting up in a hotel but said he had been assured of a rented place very soon.
