Authorities at the Volta River Authority will meet Wednesday to decide whether or not it will be necessary to open the floodgates of the Akosombo Dam.
Officials have already indicated there may be the need to let go of some water to save the facility from collapse.
The dam has peaked as never before in the last 20 years as the lake supplying it with water is now overflowing its banks.
The VRA has asked residents of selected communities to evacuate to avoid any disaster the spillage might cause.
The Public Relations Officer of the VRA, Gertrude Koomson told Joy News those asked to relocate should do so in good time.
She however maintained that today’s meeting to review the situation has been necessitated by the fact the water level of the dam appears to have stabilized.
In a related development, the Eastern Regional NADMO Coordinator Ransford Boakye has said he is doing his best to ensure people in his area who are likely to be affected move to higher grounds.
