The Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) says it has been informed by the Ghana Meteorological Agency (GMA) that the rains will continue over the weekend and it is expected to be pretty heavy.

In view of this, the Assembly is advising the general public, especially those living in flood-prone areas within the metropolis to move to high-level grounds so as to avert any danger.

In a press statement Thursday, June 9, the Assembly warned that people should stay away from the following; Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) substations, huge billboards, petrol stations, huge old trees and electric poles.

On Thursday, hours of huge downpour flooded several areas in the capital, leaving many residents stranded while other count their losses.
