Renowned bankers and economists have touted a book by the former Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia on monetary policy and financial sector reforms as a must-read for every student of the economy and banking.Speaking at the launch yesterday, speaker after speaker described the book as one of the most comprehensive jobs ever done on the country’s monetary policy.Mr Andani, Managing Director of Stanbic Bank said the book has been so simplified, it is more like “economics for idiots, but he is talking very serious stuff.”Mr Andani said of the author, he "is well polished, well read academician, an accomplished researcher, technocrat and a budding politician,” he stated.Economist and former Government Statistician, Dr. Joe Abbey praised the author for some useful insights he has provided about managing the Ghanaian economy.Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia told Joy Business the book is aimed at helping the public better appreciate the country’s monetary policies.Other reviewers of the book during the launch were financial consultant, Dr. Sam Mensah, and former Finance Minister, Yaw Osafo-Maafo.Source: Joy Business/Ghana
