The Fair Wages and Salaries Commission has cleared the air about which of the security agencies are supposed to enjoy the new single spine pay policy.
It follows a Daily Graphic publication quoting Finance Minister Dr. Kwabena Duffuor as saying the Ghana Armed Forces are to enjoy single spine salaries at the end of next month.
But the Chief Executive of the commission, George Smith-Graham told Joy Business the minister’s position on the subject is inaccurate.
He said the Ghana Armed Forces did their job evaluation and their salaries were determined based on that evaluation "but they are not on single spine salary structure [as suggested by the minister]."
He explained that 20 public institutions including four security agencies; Police, Immigration, Prisons and Fire Service have so far been migrated onto the enhanced public pay structure.
Other institutions to also benefit include the State Enterprises Commission, Narcotics Control Board, the National Commission for Civic Education and the West African Examinations Council (WAEC).
