President J.A. Kufuor on Tuesday presented Christmas gifts to the chiefs and people of the Akyem Bosome Traditional Area at a ceremony at Akyem Swedru.
Mr Frank Kwame Busumtwi, the Birim South District Chief Executive, presented livestock and soft drinks on behalf of the President.
Mr Busumtwi said the President's gesture was in recognition of the peaceful atmosphere prevailing in the traditional area.
He urged the chiefs to educate their people on the hazards of bush fire especially this time of the year when the harmattan was at its peak.
Nana Professor Asante Kodan II, the Acting President of the Akyem Bosome Traditional Council, thanked the President for the gift.
He said he was grateful to the government on its commitment to develop the traditional area and gave the assurance that they would offer communal labour on some of the projects to reduce cost.
A similar donation was made to the chiefs and people of the Akyem Kotoku Traditional Area at Akyem Oda.Source GNA
