THE Hubei Sub-Council of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) is organising a four-day trade and investment exhibition aimed at creating a platform for' companies from the Hubei Province of China to explore areas of collaboration with their Ghanaian counterparts at the Ghana Trade Fair Centre, Accra from December 2 to 5, 2010.
Dubbed, 'Hubei China-Ghana Trade and Investment Exhibition', the four-day event will focus on the light industry, furniture, household appliances, mechanical and electrical products, hardware and building materials, agricultural machinery, auto parts, shipbuilding and maintenance, power generation equipment, medical equipment, solar water heater and solar energy products.
The exhibition which is expected to bring together some 70 business groups from the Hubei Province of China for match-making will also hold a business seminar on investment opportunities in Ghana and one-on-one meetings between Hubei and Ghanaian companies.
Under the sponsorship of Zoomlion Ghana Limited and J.A. Plantpool Limited (JOSPONG Group of Companies), the programme is being organised in collaboration with the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC), Ministry of Trade and Industry, Ghana National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GNCCI), Ghana Trade Fair Company (GTFC), JAJ Africa Consultancy & Investment Limited, Department of Commerce of Hubei Province, Hubei Provincial Sino-Africa Business Council and Ghana-China Friendship Association.
The Hubei Province is one of the 23 provinces of China, and is considered one of China's most important provinces. Known as the Province of a Thousand Lakes, Hubei is the ninth most populated place in China with some 61 million people.
Hubei has rich natural and mineral resources. The main agricultural produce includes rice paddy, wheat, cotton, silk and tea. The province is also famed for its oranges. Fishing is a major occupation in the area. Hubei is a major producer of iron and steel, industrial equipment and automobiles and is also a major producer of hydroelectric and thermal power.
