Mr. Ofori Twumasi, Chairman of Tain constituency branch of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has congratulated the government for creating the new district and said this had accelerated the development of the area.
Mr Twumasi told the Ghana News Agency that since the creation of the district out of the Wenchi District, citizens had been initiating development projects.
He said the district assembly was constructing a two-storey building for decentralized departments in the district.
About 150 senior secondary school leavers had been employed as teaching assistants under the national youth employment programme.
Under the same programme, the district has been divided into five zones to undertake farming.
Mr. Twumasi mentioned bushfire outbreaks as the major challenge that faced the people every year because the youth earned their living through group hunting.
He expressed regret about such negative practice and appealed to the Regional Coordinating Council to assist the communities to help curb the practice.
