Retailers of Accra Brewery Limited (ABL), on Friday 5th August enjoyed this year’s International Beer Day with an exciting experience dubbed “Grain to Glass” at the brewery.
The 35 selected retailers from the Accra East and West zones were taken through the brewery’s beer manufacturing process from start to finish. and exposing them first-hand to the various steps and quality standards governing ABL’s brewing procedures. Thereafter the retailers were treated to a beer appreciation time as well as taken on a tour of the company’s ultra-modern, multi-million dollar packaging plants inaugurated in March 2015.
The event which was hosted by the Technical, Sales and Corporate Affairs Teams, was in line with one of ABL’s values of being “customer and consumer focused” as a way of placing its stakeholders and partners, at the heart of its operations.
International Beer Day is celebrated annually on the first Friday in August since 2007 for the purpose of gathering with friends and enjoying the taste of beer; celebrate those responsible for brewing and serving beer; and to unite the world under the banner of beer.

Vincent Oliver, Technical Director of ABL who took the team through the process congratulated the retailers for availing themselves to the fun-filled but educative engagement adding “At the heart of our operations are our stakeholders and the retailers. We therefore deem it necessary, as we celebrate International Beer Day, to open our doors for our cherished retail partners to interact with us and understand how the beer they sell and enjoy is made”.
As ABL celebrates its 85th anniversary this year, we will continue to accelerate growth and development through our value chains with various capacity building experiences.”
Representing the retailers, Madam Comfort Ashog owner of Conash Bar, at Awudome commended the company for appreciating the contribution of retailers to the success of the company.
She indicated, “the occasion was an eye opener and a very refreshing experience which every customer and consumer should have the opportunity to be part of.
It is very exciting to experience at first hand and in simple terms the beer manufacturing process; this is a rare opportunity accorded us and we are grateful to ABL for the new knowledge gained” She concluded.
