The Jubilee Field is currently producing about 35,000 barrels of crude oil a day, according to the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation.
The production level is just about a third of what is expected from the field when it reaches its maximum capacity of 120,000 barrels by the middle of next year.
The Director for Exploration and Production, Thomas Manu told Joy Business, Wednesday’s symbolic first oil celebration marked the opening of just one of nine production wells, bringing to three, the number of wells that are currently pouring oil.
He said when all the wells come on stream, production will hit the 120, 000 barrels per day.
