Deputy Energy Minister Emmanuel Buah has debunked suggestions that the ministry has not been transparent with financial expenses at the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation.
The issue was raised in parliament Thursday after the House approved the financial estimates for the ministry amidst protest from the minority.
The NPP MPs questioned the finances of the GNPC and why its budget was separated from that of the ministry.
Deputy Energy Minister Emmanuel Buah says the minority’s concerns are misplaced.
“Detailed information that is being requested will be provided in the government appropriation bill."
“I think we are all for transparency but the very important point is that GNPC as an organization is so important,” he said.
He added it will be disingenuous for the minority to suggest the government is not being transparent in the matter involving the GNPC.
