The two main political parties in the Techiman North Constituency of the Brong Ahafo Region both launched their campaigns ahead of the 2016 general elections on Sunday, September 25.
Both the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) were at their best canvassing for votes.
The district capital Tuobodom, was the venue for the NDC's launch, with scores of party faithful across the region thronging the township to support the incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) and Deputy Minister of Education, Alex Kyeremeh.
Several party bigwigs including the party's general secretary Johnson Asiedu Nketia; Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Elizabeth Ofosu Agyare; MP for North Tongu and Deputy Minister of Education in charge of Tertiary Education, Okudzeto Ablakwa; Salifu Maase of Montie FM and others were all present to support the event.
Asiedu Nketia cautioned the supporters to avoid voting 'skirt and blouse' and vote for both the President and the incumbent MP.
He added that the NDC is not a divisive party and so the NDC sees all Ghanaians equal irrespective of one's ethnic and religious affiliation.
He warned that electorates should note that choosing a president is not about who can build a factory or not so Ghanaians should not be deceived by the one district-one factory policy of the NPP.
Alex Kyeremeh also touted his achievements within the past four years and called on electorates to renew his mandate in order to continue the good work he has started.
The opposition NPP, on the other hand, had their campaign launched at the 2nd largest town in the district, Aworowa.
The program received a huge attendance with the Aworowa R/C school park filled to capacity.

Former Minister of Education under the erstwhile John Kuffour administration Prof. Akumfi Ameyaw; former Nkoranza North MP, Kwame Ampofo Twumasi; NPP Regional Chairman, Mr. Kyeremeh.
Kumawood Star's Agya Koo and Matilda Asare were also present to support Martin Oti Gyarko who is contesting for the first time.

Prof. Akumfi Ameyaw debunked allegations that he is not supporting the NPP candidate as is being circulated by the NDC.

He stated that he is confident Mr Gyarko will unseat Alex Kyeremeh and urged party faithful to be strong and vigilant during the December polls.
There was a heavy security personnel at both event venues to avert any unexpected clash between the two parties.
