The Commander of the Motor Traffic and Transport Unit of the Ghana Police Service, ACP Victor Tandoh, says he has directed the Ghana Highway Authority to investigate the causes of frequent accidents on the Kasoa road. The directive follows reports that more than ten accidents have been recorded on the newly constructed highway between Weija and Kasoa in the last three weeks. The latest incident which occurred on Sunday morning, injured 17 people. Most of the victims were treated and discharged, but a few others remained in critical condition. The Assembly woman for the area, Vera Boamah who spoke to Joy News after the latest accident, said she had repeatedly written to the Highway Authority for the construction of rumps to check over speeding on the road much to no avail. She threatened to orgainse her constituents to storm the offices of the GHA, in a demonstration.ACP Tandoh who said the low nature of existing rumps could be a cause for the accidents, a proper audit should be carried out first. He noted that the Highway Authority's results will establish the exact problem and recommend remedies.
