Women Assembly Members have been advised to move steps ahead and set up women and children focused agenda to protect their rights and interest.A Gender Activist, Ms. Fati Alhassan gave the advice on Monday at Dalun in the Tolon/Kumbungu District at the opening of a three-day capacity building workshop for 60 women Assembly Members from the Northern region.The Ghana Developing Communities Associations, an NGO organized the workshop for the members from 12 districts in its operational area to equip them with the requisite knowledge in governance and the decentralization system.Ms. Alhassan said women should learn to overcome challenges in the Assemblies and work towards breaking the male dominance both at District Assemblies levels and at home.She said when women Assemblypersons were able to initiate structures in the District Assemblies it would help facilitate decisions that concern women and children to promote national cohesion for development.She advised the Assemblywomen to do things by forming sub-committees and desks offices at the Assemblies for their rights and that of children so as to achieve results.Source: GNA
