The Local Council of Christian Churches in Ashanti commenced a three-day prayer festival seeking God’s intervention for a successful African Union (AU) Summit which comes off in Accra from July 1 to 3.
The festival is also aimed at praying to God to shower His blessings on Ghana in the wake of the impending 47th Republic Day Celebration of the nation.
The Reverend Douglas Okonah Frempong, General Overseer of the Christian Outreach Ministries and the Organizing Committee Chairman of the Council said the time has come for Christians to pray fervently for the progress of the African Continent.
He expressed dismay about negative reports of the continent such as hunger, poverty, diseases and frequent wars which had prevented the continent’s growth and development.
The AU summit, he said should therefore serve as a platform for African leaders to deliberate and find a lasting solution to the seemingly unending problems and challenges of the continent.
The Reverend Adutwum Barimah, Co-ordinator for the programme asked all Christians to have faith in God whilst they pray for the fulfillment of their ambitions.
He prayed for a united front for African leaders for the achievement of a common agenda.
