Nana Akomea, Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the Member of Parliament for Okaikoi South, has described the increasing acts of lawlessness by foot soldiers of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) as a threat to the nation's security.
Therefore, he said it was important for President Mills and the NDC government to take a hard look at how to rein in the footsoldiers and stop accusing the opposition party leader Nana Akufo Addo of war mongering.
He was speaking at a forum organized by the Member of Parliament (MP) for Subin, Mr Isaac Osei, to brief the people on happenings in the House, on Monday.
Nana Akomea said there were numerous instances where NDC footsoldiers had caused havoc and mayhem during elections, forcibly ceased toilets and chased DCEs and other government officials out of their offices. He insisted that such indiscipline is a recipe for chaos in the 2012 elections.
The admonition by the NPP flag-bearer that party members should stand up and defend democracy must not be twisted and misrepresented as advocating for war, Nana said.
It is a call to all Ghanaians to sit up and ensure that Election 2012 is free, fair and credible.
Mrs Catherine Afeku, MP for Evalue-Gwira spoke on the current economic hardships facing the people and appealed to the country's women to vote for leaders who would efficiently manage the economy to bring some comfort to the people.
Dr Mathew Opoku Prempeh, MP for Manhyia, admonished the party to be alert to prevent NDC moles from infiltrating its ranks to create confusion, especially during the upcoming parliamentary primaries.
Mr Isaac Osei said the meeting was to interact with the constituents to share ideas and seek their opinions on important national issues and urged them to work hard to win more sympathizers for the party.
