The Managing Director of Energy Bank Ghana, Mr Sam Ayininuola said the Bank would leverage technology and competence to scale the stiff competition in the industry.
Speaking to a cross-section of journalists on the bank's future plans, Mr Ayininuola said the use of the state-of-the-art electronic banking platforms and skills would help meet the needs and aspirations of the Ghanaian customers.
"The fact that we are starting from a solid base is in itself a big advantage to be a major player in the industry," he said.
The Energy Bank Ghana Limited, owned largely by the NICON and Global Fleet, of Nigeria, has a shareholders' fund in excess of GH¢60 million.
It started operations in Ghana last Tuesday as the 27th licensed bank.
Mr Ayininuola said the bank had the capacity to deliver on its promises and would do things on time to meet customers' deadlines to enable it become a leader in the market.
He said Energy Bank would be a diversified entity, but would lead the way with competence and skills to make it first choice in the emerging oil and gas business in Ghana.
Other areas to be tapped are fast moving consumer goods, projects in real estate, and service industries.
The Managing Director said the expected future growth of the Ghanaian economy was a major attraction for the location of the bank apart from the political stability and infrastructural development.
"Capital has no sentiments. It goes where it can grow and we believe in the Ghanaian economy," he said.
He assured the large Ghanaian unbanked population that the bank could also play a role in extending the boundaries of financial inclusion to the people.
The bank plans to expand its operations to the commercial cities of Tema, Takoradi and Kumasi in the next few years.
