The CPP is to consider a reduction in the filing fees for executive positions within the party. It follows angry outbursts by some members including the party’s only representative in parliament Samia Nkrumah who described the fees as exorbitant. The party is charging as much as twenty-thousand Ghana Cedis for some national offices. The latest to join the criticism is Chairman of the Council of Elders Kweku Amoah-Awuah.Mr. Amoah-Awuah believes if the leadership of the party had consulted the other branches and stakeholders of the party, the protests against the filing fees would not have happened.Following these protests raised by party members, the Central Committee has decided to review the fees.A member of the committee, Bright Akwetey says though the fees are intended to assist rebuilding efforts at the grassroots level, it has come to a decision to review it.He however refuses to admit that the fees were exorbitant.Source: Joy News/Ghana
