Mr Emmanuel Anyimadu, 48, has been appointed Clerk to the Parliament of Ghana.
The Speaker, Mr Ebenezer Sekyi Hughes, made the announcement on the floor of the House on Tuesday.
Before his appointment, Mr Anyimadu held various positions in the Parliamentary Service Board including, Deputy Clerk to Parliament in charge of Parliamentary Relations, Protocol and Public Affairs.
Mr Alban Bagbin, the Minority Leader, in congratulating him pledged the support of the minority.
The Minority Leader, who touched on the Clerk's capabilities, integrity, hard work and impartiality as a public servant, said Mr Anyimadu, in all his previous duties, had given no signal as to where he belonged politically.
He said it was difficult to know whether the Clerk belonged to the National Democratic Congress, New Patriotic Party or the Convention Peoples Party throughout his work in Parliament.
Mr Bagbin said the Clerk's new position was a testing ground that needed courage to ensure that democracy and Ghana became beneficiaries of his dedication to duty.
Mr Felix Owusu-Agyepong, the Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, joined in congratulating the Clerk and urged members, staff and the Speaker to assist the new chief executive of the service to perform well by not "leading him into temptation."
The Speaker also added his voice in congratulating the Clerk.
Mr Anyimadu, who holds a Masters degree in Public Administration, is a product of GIMPA and Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.
He takes over from Mr Ken Tachie who has retired from the service.
