The Director of Police Public Affairs, Superintendent Kwasi Ofori has been transferred.
He has now been made the district police commander for the Tafo Pankorono in Kumasi in the Ashanti region.
His deputy, DSP Cephas Arthur will take charge as the Acting Director of Police Public Affairs.
Joy News first reported of the transfer this morning but he was at post until late afternoon when he was handed his transfer letter.
Supt. Kwasi Ofori was grateful to the media for the support he was given during his term in office as the public affairs director.
“I thank the media for the cooperation, it has not been an easy job, but I believe that we contributed the best to God and our country, and I thank the entire media fraternity for the huge support given to the Ghana Police Service... And it is my belief that we will continue the good work wherever I find myself.”
Joy News’ sources revealed that his transfer was in connection with his handling of the interdiction of some 20 police officers.
The officers were interdicted after internal investigations revealed that they operated telephone services for inmates in cells. Trading of narcotics was also said to go on in those cells.
