There is an uneasy calm in the Tema West New Patriotic Party as a party member debunks the regional chairman's accusations that he is an NDC mole.According Mr Ishmael Ashitey, NPP Greater Accra Chairman, Mr Kwesi Poku has been leaking confidential information to the ruling NDC.Though Mr Ashitey was not forthright with the information leaked by Mr. Poku, he told Peace FM Wednesday that he has been monitoring the actions of Mr. Poku and has incontrovertible evidence of him being an NDC mole in the NPP.“I am calling on executive committee of the [Tema West NPP] to sack him because he is an informant.”He said recently he sat through a meeting held at the constituency level, but hours after the meeting, issues that were discussed were made available to the party’s political opponent, and he accuses Mr Poku of being the brain behind the leaked information.The Regional Chairman said all is well with the party in that constituency and fouled Mr Poku of creating the impression that the leadership there was at loggerheads with members.“That boy [Poku] is just there to create confusion,” Mr Ashitey stressed, but said he will not let him have his way.But Mr Kwesi Poku has debunked Mr Ashitey’s allegations, saying they are deliberate ploys by the chairman to disqualify him to enable the sitting Member of Parliament, Irene Naa Torshie Addo to run the impending primaries unopposed.He said he once contested as a constituency organizer and lost, and was also an ardent supporter of Mr Ashitey when he contested for the regional chairmanship.Mr Poku accused the chairman and followers of the MP of “frustrating” him and other contestants.Story by Isaac Essel/Myjoyonline.com
