The beleaguered Member of Parliament for Afram Plains South, Mr. Emmanuel Aboagye Didieye has denied ever suffering a mental disorder as is being alleged by his fellow MPs.Speaking to Adakabre Frimpong-Manso on Adom FM Thursday, Mr. Didieye flatly rejected allegations from some MPs that he visited a psychiatrist after he got involved in a motor accident some years back. These rumours were rife after Mr. Didieye said about 80% of his fellow male MPs were womanizers. These accusation drew angry responses from the MPs with some calling for his head. The least charitable ones attributed the comments to a mental defect he suffered after escaping a fatal motor accident some years back. But Mr. Didieye says if he was mentally incapacitated, it would have been impossible to serve in parliament as Ghana’s constitution strictly prohibits those with mental defects from serving as lawmakers. He however suspects such comments from his colleagues may have come about as a result of how his comments were couched by media reportage.Mr. Didieye further intimated that if he had any mental defect, people would have noticed a long time ago from his discussions on radio and elsewhere. The MP said he is only worried about how people are attributing his comments to his youthfulness whiles others accuse him of being immature. To him, views related to his sanity coming from parliamentarians show that there is some animosity among members who might even belong to the same party. He said he has received the recordings of the comments he made along with other comments by his colleagues who were on the same programme and would want to review it before making any further comments on the issue.Mr. Didieye therefore urged the public to put the issue to rest.Story by Derick Romeo Adogla/Myjoyonline.com/Ghana
