The 2016 Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has dismissed rumours that he has plans to relocate the capital of Ghana to his hometown of Kyebi.
Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo said on Accra-based Peace FM on Friday that he would focus on making the economy strong and creating jobs if elected president on December 7.
His statement is in response to claims that he promised a German Firm which allegedly happens to be one of the NPP’s top donors, a contract to build a new township in the Eastern Region to serve as Ghana’s new capital.
These claims according to the reports were contained in some leaked emails supposedly sent by Mr Akufo-Addo to the firm.
But the NPP Flagbearer said he was surprised when he read the news because he does not send emails.
It is a pity that our opponents have descended to that level...I do not send emails, I prefer face to face conversations. Besides Kyebi is too small to be a capital of Ghana, he indicated in Twi.
The three-time Presidential Candidate reiterated his call for issue-based campaign rather than campaign of divisiveness and destruction of reputations.
"A lot of the people listening to me are aware of the unemployment rate in the country, from dumsor (power cuts) to collapse of business...let's talk about the real issues," he stressed.
He urged Ghanaians to vote out the NDC government 'to protect the nation' from massive corruption, unemployment and bad governance.
He is a threat to the future of our country, his style of governance is one that can jeopardize the future of this nation, he added.
Mr Akufo-Addo said his party has the human resource to fulfill all promises made in the party's manifesto if they are given the mandate to govern.
