MTN Ghana has commissioned a new US$35 million ultra modern switch center at Kaase in Kumasi to boost the quality of its network in the northern part of the country.
This is the second ultra modern switch centre that MTN has installed in Ghana and the second one in the country as a whole.
A statement from the company said the installation adds Ghana to South Africa, Nigeria and Iran out of MTN's 21 operating countries where the facility had been installed.
The switch site houses different telecommunication equipment to effectively manage calls between subscribers and transmissions for managing the fiber optic network.
The statement quoted MTN’s General Manager of Operations, Ibrahim Misto as saying "These switch sites are among the measures put in place by the Company to ensure that the network quality that its subscribers enjoy is protected at all times in the face of earthquakes and other natural disasters".
He said the equipment is one of the reasons why MTN is able to offer the best quality service to over nine million customers in Ghana, adding that MTN’s paramount interest is for subscribers to be able to make a receive calls, and enjoy fast internet services.
