Polls have opened across the country as long queues of voters cast their ballot in the 2016 Presidential and Parliamentary elections.
Thousands queued as early as 12am, seven hours before polls were due to open, to vote in this highly anticipated elections.
Some 15,703,890 registered voters are expected to cast their ballot at about 29,000 polling stations to elect a president and 275 Members of Parliament.
Chief of Defence Staff, Michael Sampson Oje cast his ballot at the Burma Hall A&B Polling Centre in the La Dadekotopon Constitution in Accra.

At a polling station at the KEEA Constituency in Cape Coast, a ballot box that had an inscription “Election 2012” created some agitation among electorates.
The voters raised concern about the wrong inscription, suggesting it could compromise the election results.
They requested the EC to change the boxes or remove the wrong inscription. EC officials resolved not to use the ballot box, reports Joseph Ackah-Blay.
Ivy Setordjie, Joy News' Volta Regional Correspondent spoke to voters who have cast their ballot and are excited.
Kwetey Nartey reported from the Ningo Prampram Constituency that voting was delayed for about 10 minutes because of the positioning of the voting screen.
Voters wanted the voting screen to be placed in a way as to allow scrutiny of persons casting their vote.
This, they believe, would prevent ballot stuffing.
Eventually, they prevailed and voting started without any further incident, Kwetey reported.
