New Patriotic Party (NPP) National Youth Organiser, Sammy Awuku, has called for the arrest of a pro-National Democratic Congress (NDC) actor Wofa K for faking injuries after reports of post-election violence.

Sammy Awuku said the circulation of images showing treated head and arm injuries were intended to cause fear and panic.

There have been reported pockets of violence in some parts of the country following the declaration of NPP Presidential candidate Akufo-Adoo as the winner of the December 7 presidential elections.

A group of NPP youth in the Northern Region stormed the offices of the Savanna Accelerated Development Authority (SADA) to demand the handing over of the office.

The offices of the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) and the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) in the West Gonja District, have reportedly been locked by some executives of the NPP in Damongo.

The NPP has condemned the attacks and called on the police to establish law and order.

At a press conference Monday, the NDC youth leaders warned they will be forced to retaliate if the NPP fails to rein in violent elements.

But the attacks have not been limited to the NPP.

In Ekumfi-Esuehyia in the Central Region, three people have sustained gunshot wounds after supporters of incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) for the area and the MP-elect clashed Sunday.

Speaking to the media reports on the violence, Mr Awuku told Joy News, some of the reported attacks are stage managed.

He referred to a  Ghanaian actor who featured prominently in campaign ads of the NDC. Awuku believes the images strewn on social media depicting him in pain "turned out to be a hoax".

A family source said all attempts by family members, including Wofa K’s mother, to get any answers from him from the attacks have failed to yield any results.

“He would not talk to anybody. He locked himself up in the room and when his mother knocked he would not open", the source told Joy News' Manasseh Azure.

Sammy Awuku believes Wofa K's faking casualty could have needlessly triggered a violent reaction from NDC supporters.

Sammy Awuku suspects some reports are nothing more than "a storm in a tea cup" because checks on the ground do not reflect reports of violence.

He threw an invitation to the NDC youth leaders to join hands to calm their bases. 

"An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth will not solve this problem" he urged.
