Ghana’s education system has been blamed for what some perceive to be moral degeneration and lack of patriotism among the larger society especially the youth. Speakers at a Kwame Nkrumah conference in Kumasi are therefore proposing changes in the education curricula to correct the situation. The Kwame Nkrumah International conference is organised by the KNUST and on the theme: “Ghana@50: In search of Dr Kwame Nkrumah, charting new frontiers of knowledge and leadership for Africa in the new millennium.” The academics are unhappy about what they say is unbridled westernisation responsible for loss of national pride and the inability of products of educational institutions to find solutions to indigenous development needs. The speakers, mostly African nationalists and professors in the American universities said the current system promotes the imperialist agenda which discredits everything progressive about the African.
